We’re currently seeking a Head of Student Accommodation this is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced growing property company. The Head of Student Accommodation is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, operational management, and financial performance of MCR’s Northern student accommodation portfolio. This role involves leading a team to deliver high-quality living environments, ensuring compliance with regulations, and enhancing tenant satisfaction to drive revenue growth and operational excellence.
MCR Property currently owns 1,500 beds in Liverpool, Sheffield and Sunderland and is in the process of acquiring over 1,000 more units in the Midlands. We’re currently expanding and have acquisitions already in the pipeline! Due to business growth we now require an individual to oversee the creation of a new brand and management of our new sites along with the existing senior leadership team. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategic plans for the growth, sustainability, and profitability of the student accommodation portfolio.
Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of multiple accommodation sites, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning.
Monitor and improve occupancy rates, revenue, and expense management.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing regulations specific to student accommodation.
Cultivate relationships with students, university partners, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Lead customer service initiatives to maintain high levels of tenant satisfaction and retention.
Oversee maintenance, cleaning, and other operational services ensuring high-quality living standards.
Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting for the accommodation portfolio.
Identify opportunities for property improvement, refurbishment, or expansion.
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of site managers and operational staff.
Analyze market trends and competitor offerings to maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications & Experience:
A relevant postgraduate qualification is desirable.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in accommodation management, property management, with a track record of leading teams. Minimum of 5 years’ experience specifically in the Student accommodation sector.
Proven experience in managing multiple sites or large-scale operations.
Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and financial analysis.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations, licensing, and compliance related to student housing.
Proficiency in property management software and MS Office Suite.
