Flow Student at a glimpse

Flow Student is the student accommodation platform of MCR Property Group, a leading independent real estate investment and development company operating nationally, with offices in London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Glasgow. Launched in 2026, Flow has grown rapidly through acquisition and now operates more than 8,000 beds in university cities across the UK, including Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, Sheffield, Preston, Nottingham, Coventry, Sunderland and Canterbury, with a clear ambition to reach 15,000 beds. Our focus is on well-located, well-run accommodation, backed by ongoing investment in our buildings, systems and people. As the platform continues to expand at pace, we are building a dedicated finance team in Manchester and are looking for capable, driven individuals who are eager to grow alongside the business.

Our current requirement:

We are currently seeking a Finance Assistant to join our growing finance team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced, thriving business at an exciting stage of its growth, offering broad exposure across the finance function, genuine opportunities for professional development and the chance to progress as the team grows.

In this role, you will support the day-to-day running of the finance function, taking responsibility for posting and allocating rent receipts, reconciling income and student payments between our property management system, StarRez, and Sage Intacct, and completing daily and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple companies and bank accounts. You will help manage student deposits and refunds, process sales invoices and credit notes, and support the collection of outstanding balances by working with site teams on arrears and payment queries.

You will assist the Management Accountant with month-end tasks, including the preparation of journals, accruals, prepayments and supporting schedules, and help prepare information for VAT returns and the year-end audit. You will also process staff expenses and site petty cash, maintain accurate filing and audit trails, respond to queries from site teams, students and suppliers, and provide cover and support to the purchase ledger team and wider finance team as required.

About you:

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a finance or accounts role, ideally within property, lettings or a multi-site business. You will be comfortable working with numbers, confident using Excel and keen to develop your knowledge of accounting systems. You will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be highly organised and able to manage a varied workload, and take pride in accuracy and getting things right.
