Customer Service Assistant
Student Accommodation (Sheffield)
Who are we
MCR Property Group is a leading independent real estate investment and development company operating nationally, with offices in London, Manchester, Birmingham, and Glasgow. The business is focused on the development and management of residential, student accommodation, and industrial assets and manages a diverse portfolio covering every major asset class across the UK. With a significant pipeline and continued expansion underway, this role offers the opportunity to play a key part in shaping high-performing operational environments within one of the UK’s most active property platforms.
Who we want
We are seeking a friendly, proactive and customer-focused Customer Service Assistant to join our student accommodation team in Sheffield. This role plays a vital part in shaping the day-to-day experience of our residents and ensuring they feel welcomed, supported and at home from the moment they arrive.
As the first point of contact for students, you will set the tone for their entire stay. Whether welcoming new residents during check-in, responding to day-to-day enquiries, resolving concerns or contributing to a vibrant and inclusive community atmosphere, you will be central to delivering an exceptional student living experience.
This is a varied and hands-on role, well suited to someone who enjoys being active and involved in different aspects of site life. One day you may be helping to organise social events or community activities, the next supporting a student with a personal concern, and the next working alongside the facilities team to ensure the building continues to operate smoothly. Throughout everything you do, your focus will remain on making sure students feel safe, valued and supported.
You will provide a professional and approachable service to all residents, dealing with queries and complaints in a calm, fair and timely manner while working to achieve positive outcomes for both the student and the business. You will play an active role in creating a welcoming community environment by supporting events and activities that encourage student engagement and connection, and by helping to ensure residents leave with a positive experience they are happy to recommend to others.
From a commercial perspective, you will support local occupancy targets by encouraging re-bookings and renewals, maintaining awareness of local market conditions and competitor offerings, and balancing the commercial needs of the site with consistently high standards of customer service.
You will also contribute to wider community and sustainability initiatives, promoting recycling and energy-saving practices within the building and supporting community or charity projects that help students connect with the wider Sheffield area. You will act as a visible advocate for positive behaviour, inclusivity and community spirit across the site.
Operationally, you will work closely with the facilities and management teams to support the smooth running of the building. This will include helping to maintain a safe, clean and well-managed environment, identifying potential safety risks, following emergency procedures where required, and ensuring you remain up to date with mandatory training and health and safety standards. You will liaise with maintenance and management teams to ensure maintenance requests are logged correctly and communicated clearly to residents.
This is a busy and rewarding role within a 440-bed site, where no two days are the same. In return, you will join a growing organisation that is investing in its portfolio and its people, offering a supportive environment with opportunities to develop and progress.
Who would fit the role
The ideal candidate will have experience in purpose-built student accommodation, hospitality, or another customer-facing environment and will be confident handling enquiries, complaints and competing priorities in a fast-paced setting. You will be a strong team player with good organisational skills, a positive attitude and the initiative to solve problems independently when required. Most importantly, you will enjoy working with young people and be passionate about helping to create a safe, supportive and welcoming community.
