Customer Service Assistant

Job Type : Permanent
Location : Sheffield
Contract Type : EXTERNAL

As Customer Service Assistant, you’ll be the first point of contact for our student residents. You’ll set the tone from day one - whether that’s welcoming students on check-in, resolving day-to-day queries, or helping to create a safe and vibrant environment.

This isn’t a desk job. One day you might be arranging a social event, the next helping a student settle a concern, the next working with our facilities team to keep the site running smoothly. The common thread is simple: making sure our students feel at home and supported.

Key areas of responsibility

Supporting students

  • Provide a professional, approachable service to all residents.
  • Help create a welcoming community atmosphere with events and activities.
  • Handle concerns or complaints promptly and fairly.
  • Ensure students leave with a positive experience they’ll want to share.

Sales and occupancy

  • Support local occupancy targets by encouraging re-bookings.
  • Keep an eye on local market trends and what other providers are offering.
  • Balance the commercial needs of the site with high standards of service.

Community and sustainability

  • Promote recycling and energy-saving initiatives.
  • Take part in community and charity initiatives that connect students with the wider Sheffield area.
  • Be a visible advocate for creating a positive student environment.

Site operations

  • Support the facilities team in maintaining safe, clean, well-run buildings.
  • Be alert to safety risks and follow procedures in emergencies.
  • Keep up to date with required training and health and safety practices.
  • Liaising with maintenance and management to ensure maintenance tickets are logged and communicated to the residents

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in PBSA, hospitality, or customer-facing environments.
  • Confidence in handling queries, complaints, and busy workloads.
  • A team player with good organisational skills and initiative.
  • Someone who enjoys working with young people and creating a sense of community.

What to expect
This is a busy role in a newly acquired site, so no two days will be the same. In return, you’ll be part of a company that’s investing in growth and giving its people the space to thrive.
