Assistant Site Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Site Manager in coordinating internal contractors and trades to ensure smooth sequencing of works and programme delivery
  • Assist in implementing quality assurance standards and conducting trade-to-trade handover inspections
  • Monitor compliance with design specifications and assist with third-party compliance requirements
  • Support the maintenance of strict health and safety standards across the site
  • Assist with regular inductions and toolbox talks for new personnel
  • Participate in weekly internals meetings with subcontractors and provide progress updates
  • Support on-site materials management, including coordinating deliveries and ensuring proper storage with internal trades
  • Liaise with project stakeholders under the guidance of the Site Manager
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks
  • Assist with daily planning and resource allocation

 

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in residential construction projects, preferably in a supervisory capacity
  • SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification
  • Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card
  • Good understanding of building regulations and construction standards
  • Experience with quality control processes and snagging procedures
  • Demonstrable experience working collaboratively within a site management team

 

Additional Requirements

  • Working knowledge of current building regulations and construction standards
  • Experience supporting quality control systems implementation
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with multiple trades
  • Ability to read and interpret basic architectural drawings and technical specifications
  • Familiarity with construction management software
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to escalate issues appropriately
  • Understanding of budget considerations and cost control
  • Awareness of sustainable building practices and energy efficiency standards
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and assist with progress reporting
  • Willingness to develop towards SMSTS certification

 

Working Hours & Conditions

  • Monday to Friday: 7:30am - 5:30pm
  • Potential for occasional weekend work during critical phases
  • Site-based role requiring regular on-site presence

Reporting Structure
